Chadwick Scores IMCA Modified Win In Central California Clash Race At Antioch Speedway

Antioch, CA...April 20...Kellen Chadwick of Oakley scored the victory in the 25 lap IMCA Modified race Saturday night at Antioch Speedway. This was the opening race of the six-race Central California Clash. The win paid Chadwick $1,000.

Chadwick had the outside front row for the start and bolted into the lead at the green flag, followed by Bobby Hogge IV of Salinas and Troy Foulger of Oakley. Foulger slipped past Hogge for second on a Lap 3 restart with Andrew Pearce of Brentwood settling into third. After a Lap 9 yellow flag, the race had a good run of green flag racing with Chadwick pulling away from Foulger. A yellow flag with three laps to go bunched the field, but Chadwick bolted ahead and brought it home to a satisfying win. Foulger settled for second ahead of Pearce, Hogge and Cody Burke of Salinas.

Reigning series champion Tyler Bannister of Bakersfield picked up from where he left off with a $750 IMCA Sport Modified Main Event victory.

Reigning track champion Kenny Shrader of Pacheco let two laps before Bannister went charging by on the inside in Turn 3 to take the lead. Tate Loftis of Bakersfield settled into third and slipped past Shrader for second in Turn 4 on the fourth lap. The race was punctuated by just three yellow flags from there as Bannister maintained command on each restart. Dylan Wilson of Bakersfield made a move into third in Turn 2 on Lap 16 and was pressuring Loftis for second late. Bannister won ahead of Loftis, Wilson, Jason Ryan Jr of Oakley and Shrader.

Rick Diaz of Los Banos won the 20 lap IMCA Stock Car Main Event. The past Merced IMCA Sport Modified champion led all the way and held off a furious challenge from reigning State champion Troy Foulger of Oakley for the impressive $750 win.

Diaz bolted into the lead at the start ahead of Foulger. Nick DeCarlo of Martinez settled into third on the fourth lap. On just about every lap and sometimes in each turn, Foulger would make a daring move on the inside entering the turn and slide up to the outside. However, Diaz would go down low and emerge with the lead as they went down the straightaway. This went on until Foulger surrendered second to DeCarlo on Lap 15. A yellow flag waved soon after that. As Diaz maintained command, Foulger made another strong move on the inside to regain second. However, Diaz was not to be denied as he sped home to victory ahead of Foulger, DeCarlo, Fred Ryland of Brentwood and Jason Robles of Rio Vista.

Nick Johnson of Bakersfield won the 20 lap West Coast Hobby Stock Main Event. The win earned the defending series champion $500.

Joe Gallaher of San Jose set the early pace. Ryan Hart of Dos Palos was an early second before surrendering the position to Pittsburg's James Thomson on Lap 8. Johnson also got around Hart for third, and a Lap 9 yellow flag slowed the pace. On the restart, Johnson and Thomson got around Gallaher for the first two positions. As Johnson pulled away, Thomson slipped up, allowing Hart and Gallaher to get by for second and third. Johnson went on to win by a straightaway ahead of Hart, Gallaher, Thomson and Aidan Ponciano of Oakley.

In the interest of working with a neighboring track, several divisions were dropped from a scheduled race next week, resulting in the cancellation of that event. The next scheduled race will be on May 11th, featuring the lightning fast NARC 410 Sprint Cars. For further information, go to http://www.raceantiochspeedway.com.
